Interview with Business Development Manager, Carmen Blake
Lead generation isn’t a nice to have, it’s a must-have for most businesses – and with nearly four years of experience under her belt at Nutcracker Agency, it’s safe to say that Carmen Blake is an expert at opening and closing leads for a variety of our clients. Refusing to take no for an answer, she’s always smiling as she’s dialling while fully aligning herself with the commercial goals of each of her clients.
In this candid interview, we find out more on Carmen’s important role and what she loves most about working at Nutcracker Agency.
It’s incredible to see the commitment you have to Nutcracker, with your four year anniversary coming up in May. What would you say is the best part of your job?
There are several things I love about my role – the first one has got to be the Nutcracker team, closely followed by the diversity in the role that I play. No day is ever the same. I never fail to love the successes that I manage to obtain too.
What’s your favourite thing about Nutcracker Agency?
Working as part of a vibrant team and being allowed to express myself honestly – we are all very open at Nutcracker, which is very refreshing.
And honesty is the best policy, isn’t it? What’s the most important part of your role?
To secure leads for clients, I have to make sure that I fully understand their ethos, what they want to achieve and how I can meet and exceed those goals.
What are your favourite type of clients and which sector?
But if you could choose a dream client, who or what would it be?
Anything to do with food or drink would be great.
That would make for some interesting phone calls! What’s your favourite social media platform and why?
Facebook, because it allows a brand to stay connected with its audience, while keeping up to date with relevant conversations and customer queries.
Why do you think some businesses fail to bring in results from their marketing? What can they do differently?
Bad communication is at the core of poor results – every piece of marketing and sales must be aligned or businesses just won’t get the results they want. It’s also vital to plan a clear and strong strategy that will monitor and achieve good outcomes.
What’s one piece of advice that you’d give to businesses when it comes to marketing?
Know your audience and stay focused on goals and objectives.
If you hadn’t worked for a marketing agency, what other profession might you have taken?
Something in the catering or restaurant industry, as I have a passion for cooking.
If you could sum up Nutcracker Agency in three words, what would it be?
Opportunity, development and successful.
It certainly is all of those things and more. And finally, do you have any hidden talents?
I can do a pretty impressive ear flick – it has to be seen to be believed!
