2019. It’s an end-of-year blog round-up!
2019, Wow, what a year it has been for the Nutcracker team, and with 2020 glimmering on the horizon, we are in full growth and scale mode. But before we tuck into Brussels sprouts on the 25th and sing Auld Land Syne on the 31st, let’s look back on what we’ve been talking about this year…
As an industry, are we producing too much content? With 156 million emails sent per minute, and reams of social media posts all vying for you attention every second of every single day, the answer is probably yes. But digital content is here to stay and the only way to make it work for you is think strategically about your audience – what’s important to them? How can you improve their lives? What will make them care about your brand new, one-of-a-kind, dust-busting hoover? Stop being part of the online wallpaper and make your content a valued part of your business.
Do you think clickbait is sneaky and deceptive or an excellent way to attract attention? Unsurprisingly, it can do more harm than good for your company in the long term, leading to distrust or a damage to your reputation. And, yes, you may increase your brand awareness, but do you want your audience to take you seriously or do you want to be a another ‘Look what happened when these dogs ate yellow snow’ joke? We know what we’d prefer.
How strong is your commercial arm? If it’s not looking anything like The Rock’s left wrist, your growth is sure to suffer in 2020. All businesses need to remain competitive, agile and responsive. Yes, you need to stick to your niche, but remaining stagnant and static won’t make your company survive the difficult five-year hurdle. By failing to look around at developing trends and new opportunities, you are only burying your head in the sand and putting your business on the line. The answer? Look above the surface and grow, grow, grow!
