Interview with Social Creative & Lead Generation Lead, Jordan Petrou

At Nutcracker Agency, we don’t just tick boxes and check things off our lists. We analyse, we look at what’s generating results and what activity isn’t working – and then we adapt and improve. As our Social Creative and Lead Generation Lead, Jordan is an expert at delving beneath the surface of every aspect of marketing, finding leads in everything she does. It’s a talent that’s not only unique to her but an undeniably essential cog in the Nutcracker machine.

Here, we catch up with her to find out more about her experience and why she loves working at Nutcracker Agency.

Having worked at Nutcracker for 15 months, what would you say is the best part about your job?

How varied it is. No two days are the same and you’re always up against an interesting challenge. I love having to constantly engage my brain!

And what’s your favourite thing about Nutcracker Agency?

My nut family.

We love that! What would you say is the most important part of your role?

Being able to multitask. It sounds like a no brainer, but it’s so important to be able to switch your brain from one project to another. If you can’t be agile in your role, you’ll get left behind.

OK, on to the nitty gritty – what’s your one piece of advice that you’d give to businesses when it comes to marketing?

Don’t be afraid to be different. No one ever made a difference by being like everyone else. No matter if there are similar businesses within the same industry, yours is unique and deserves to be represented that way. So, push the boat out – you can always reel it in if you have to.

Brilliant analogy. Why do you think some businesses fail to bring in results from their marketing?

If something isn’t working, instead of trying to do something different, to understand why it isn’t working, they either pull the plug or continue hoping for different results. Last I heard, doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results was the definition of insanity! If something isn’t working for your business, instead of letting it get you down, use this valuable data to think strategically and try a different avenue.

Some excellent advice there. What is your favourite type of client and which sector?

I do love B2B technology because it opens your eyes to information you never would have even known about otherwise.

What would be your dream client though?

A large animal charity that are constantly undertaking new projects, fundraisers and events.

Do you have a favourite social media platform and what’s your one piece of advice when using it?

Probably Twitter. It’s so fast paced – to make your mark you need to develop a real sense of voice. Have regular conversations with people, get your voice out in debates, comment on as much as possible, just have fun.

If you hadn’t worked for a marketing agency, what other profession might you have taken?

Something to do with animals – I’d have loved to work on a nature reserve in South Africa or somewhere similar.

Do you have any hidden talents?

Yes, I can play ukulele and guitar.

And finally, if you could sum up Nutcracker Agency in three words, what would it be?

Daring, quirky, agile.
